Healing Good News for Smoking

A mighty ocean is made up of drops of water. A great healing chi-field is made up of individual healing stories. Every healing story is a story of love --the love of oneself and others through ups and downs. Every healing story is a story of  triumph -- the triumph of one's spirit over one's temporarily setback. Life is no guarantee. We love life as it comes.

My “No More Smoking” Story

Judi Lambert

Cleveland, OH

I had been smoking cigarettes for almost 25 years and had “quit” about a dozen times!  One time I managed to stay off cigarettes for almost 4 months, but then I would start again!  Each time, it got harder and harder to stop but I knew I had to quit.  My chest was starting to hurt and I would sometimes get chest pains as soon as I took the first puffs!  I wasn’t feeling very well in general and I knew at my age (54) that continuing to smoke was just downright dangerous!  Besides, my mother had had open-heart surgery when she was my age and has had all kinds of health problems.  I knew I didn’t want to follow in her footsteps!

One day I saw an ad for Luke Chan’s Chi Lel Qigong workshop.  I had heard about Qigong and had wanted to experience it for myself.  I was hoping it would help me deal with stress and help me feel less tired.  I did not really think about it helping with quitting cigarettes.  I attended my first three-day workshop at Oakwood Farm in May 1998 and really enjoyed it.   I bought the 101 Miracles Book and a couple of beginner tapes even though I wasn’t sure I would follow through with any of the practices, as I’ve never been one to stick to anything for very long.  But, I followed directions, posting my gong sheet on the living room wall and started my daily practice by imagining everyone there with me as I practiced!  Within two weeks I started feeling so much stronger, had more energy and my chest wasn’t hurting anymore!  And the idea came that now I could give up cigarettes and use Chi Lel instead!  And it worked!  I have not had a cigarette ever since (more than a year and half)!  Not only that, it was so easy!  After all those years of struggling with that addiction, it just stopped being a problem!

Today I can’t imagine not doing my Chi Lel practice.  It is helping to strengthen my whole system (I also used to suffer from weak and stiff joints) and it has improved my whole outlook on life in general.  I have even gone into work late rather than miss doing my gong in the morning!  It feels so good to start the day feeling great!

  Suggestions

BJ- I will be unable to attend class tonight due to the fact that my only

ride home to Michigan decided that she wants to leave in about 5minutes.

I'm really sorry I really wanted to work on my practice. I have been

trying to use it to help me quit smoking. If we covered anything new today

please e-mail me and let me know. If you have any more suggestions on how

I can use the pratice to help me quit smoking please let me know.

 Again I'm very sorry

Regarding your smoking concern, I recommend the following.  First,

continue your daily practice because it will help to bring balance to your

system.  Second, I would suggest using the following affirmation:  My body

no longer needs cigarettes.  My desire to smoke disappears.

You can make up some by yourself, of course.  When I rid myself of my

allergies, I merely said daily, "my allergies disappear".  I would use

these affirmations during all the repetitive motions such as push/pull,

etc.  Also, use it during your beginning and closing practice.
